David Armstrong

Director, corporate finance

Dave started working in corporate finance with a ‘Big 4’ firm in 1993, focusing on helping businesses secure the optimal amount of grant funding towards their future plans. Since then he has helped more than 120 companies ranging from start-ups, to owner-managed businesses, to subsidiaries of some of the world’s largest companies operating in most business sectors. A particular emphasis has been on helping foreign-owned businesses either establish or extend their presence in the South West. Dave also sits on a variety of grant panels, therefore having experience of grant applications from both sides.

Since joining PKF Francis Clark in 2009, Dave has assisted companies on a wide range of corporate finance transactions, focusing on helping shareholders achieve a successful exit, securing funds from a variety of sources to ensure transactions proceed and helping clients with acquisition searches. He has experience of a wide range of sectors, but particularly advising businesses in the engineering and food and drink sectors, two of the most active sectors for transactions in the region. He brings his experience from a wide range of transactions and sectors to each client he works with.

Dave’s recent experience includes the Sutton Seeds MBO, a variety of due diligence assignments and the sales of Gillett’s Callington to Appleby Westward and Roofing Supplies (South West) to Longhouse.
