Coast-to-coast cyclists support Plymouth Together Fund
Construction consultants and accountants teamed up to cycle from coast to coast across Devon to raise funds for Plymouth Together.
A group of eight keen cyclists, led by architect Mike Fisher, partner at construction consultancy Bailey Partnership, and Giles Hutchings, partner at accountants PKF Francis Clark, covered the 110 miles from Ilfracombe to Plymouth over the weekend of May 21-22.
Their sponsored cycle ride has so far raised around £1,500 for the Plymouth Together Fund, launched to support the families and local communities impacted by the shootings in Keyham in August last year.
Health and wellbeing is really important to us at PKF Francis Clark. Our hybrid working model allows me to get out on my bike on days when I work from home, making good use of the time I would have spent commuting.
Giles said: “Mike and I share a love of cycling, so when he approached me to jointly organise a charity cycle in aid of the Plymouth Together Fund I jumped at the chance. The Keyham tragedy deeply affected everyone at PKF Francis Clark, Bailey Partnership and the wider community we live and work in.
“Health and wellbeing is really important to us at PKF Francis Clark. Our hybrid working model allows me to get out on my bike on days when I work from home, making good use of the time I would have spent commuting. But I’d never covered so many miles in one go, so the coast-to-coast ride was challenging, as well as being a fantastic way of building relationships while raising money for a great cause.”
Mike added: “I am humbled by the amount of support we have received in the lead up to this event. This charity is very close to our hearts, affecting so many people in the wider community we live and work in. It is great to have so many cyclists eager to take part and a fantastic way to raise money and show our support, all while continuing to build on those valued relationships we have with the people we work alongside with in this industry.”
