Grants coming soon for farming sector in 2025

Among the items covered at the Speech by Environment Secretary Steve Reed at the recent NFU Conference was news of grant funding for the farming sector.  This was followed by a blog post that gave more details of ‘grants for equipment, technology and innovation’.

New farming grants for 2025

Grants will be offered through 3 schemes, an overview of each is set out below:

Scheme The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF)

 

Farming Innovation Programme (FIP) 

 

Accelerating Development of Practices and Technologies Fund (ADOPT)

 

Grants for equipment, technology and small infrastructure to boost productivity, improve slurry management and enhance animal health and welfare. farmers, growers and foresters who want to develop and use new, innovative methods and technologies collaborative farmer-led, innovation grants, for farmers and farm businesses to trial new technology and methods on their farm
Next round opens Spring Spring Spring
Grant pot £30 million will be available for productivity and slurry and £16.7 million will be available for animal health and welfare £12.5 million available to fund research to deliver the practical benefits of precision breeding technology to farmers.

 

£12.5 million across projects to fund research focusing on technologies and practices to help transition the sector towards Net Zero.

 

£17.6 million for “Further Industry-led competitions “

Grant size between £1,000 and £25,000 grants will be available to fund projects of between £50,000 to £100,000 in size

I am pleased to read that “I will consider my time as Secretary of State a failure if I do not improve profitability for farmers up and down this country”; I will be keeping my eyes open for details of the “farming profitability unit” and other developments outlined in the speech.
