Dawn Peattie
Partner, landed estates sector
Dawn is a trusted adviser to some of the region’s most complex landed estates and rural businesses. Her deep understanding of multi-generational family dynamics, combined with technical expertise, makes her a sought-after voice in the private client and rural advisory space.
She is a committee member of the Wiltshire CLA and the Rural Accountants Group (RAG), where she plays a pivotal role in shaping policy and best practice. Her work with the Environmental Farmers Group (EFG) and the Natural Capital Working Group reflects her commitment to sustainable land management and the future of rural enterprise. Notably, she has contributed to the development of a meaningful carbon calculator tool for EFG members, helping landowners navigate the evolving environmental landscape.
Dawn has led responses to HMRC consultations on the taxation of environmental land management and ecosystem service markets, representing both RAG and PKF Francis Clark. Her insights are grounded in hands-on experience with estates holding agricultural land, commercial and development property, heritage assets, chattels, investment portfolios, private equity and both onshore and offshore structures.
Known for her calm, pragmatic approach, she excels in facilitating succession planning conversations – often in emotionally charged settings. She ensures all voices are heard, translating technical jargon into clear, accessible language for trustees and family members alike. Following the proposed IHT changes in Autumn 2024, she has been instrumental in guiding families through increasingly complex and time-sensitive decisions.
Clients value her for the time she invests in building relationships and the clarity she brings to trustee responsibilities. She is ably supported by a team of specialists across PKF Francis Clark, ensuring a holistic and responsive service.
Outside of work, Dawn lives lives with her husband, two dogs and three horses. A former PSG-level dressage competitor, she now enjoys the occasional outing in the arena, alongside renovating her home and experimenting with a cut flower garden and vegetable patch, with mixed success!
