Welcome to our 2023 Deals Review. We look at the trends in transactions across the UK and in the region of the South that we operate from, along with the results of our recent survey of professional advisors and funders on current trends affecting deal making and the outlook for 2024.

You’ll also find a range of in-depth articles on current topics including:

  • Getting deals done in a turbulent market
  • Alternative approaches to trade sales
  • Navigating the current debt funding landscape
  • Going beyond the traditional approach to Due Diligence and the virtues of VA & VDD

Despite all the turmoil and challenges in the market and a general decline in deal activity in our region, we:

  • Continued to invest in and grow our Transactions Advisory senior team to 24 Partners and Directors.
  • Increased the number of deals that we have advised on by 5%.
  • Combined with our PKF UK and Ireland colleagues, we completed more deals than each of the Big 4.
  • Whilst there were fewer £100m+ deals in the market, we extended the number of M&A transactions in the £10m – £50m range that we advised on.
  • Worked on a wide range of transaction types – from MBOs, acquisitions, disposals, and fundraisings through to the completion of a number of EOTs.

If you would like to speak to us about any possible transaction, including fundraising and exit options, please do get in touch with the PKF Francis Clark Corporate Finance team
