Jason is a VAT manager in the VAT and Customs team.
He advises upon a number of complex and wide ranging VAT issues for clients nationally, ranging from DIY VAT refund claims to complex partial exemption and capital goods scheme advice, and all VAT matters concerning “Brexit”. Jason advises businesses on how to maximise VAT recovery including VAT planning to minimise any VAT burden, especially in terms of land and property transactions and business sales. Jason is fully aware of the current economic pressures clients experience and will advise upon schemes and better options available to mitigate VAT costs, administrative burdens and improve cashflow.
Jason’s previous roles within HM Revenue & Customs included VAT compliance checks visiting businesses to talk through VAT liability matters but in doing so obtaining invaluable insight into a wide ranging number of trade sectors. He is able to advise businesses in how to navigate through any dealings with HMRC, handling matters directly with HMRC if required including independent reviews, appeals and tribunal preparation. Jason regularly advises upon VAT matters involving the European Union and countries outside of the EU – he enjoys engaging with clients and building a client relationship, gaining a full and clear understanding of the client’s business allows Jason to advise on dealings with customers/suppliers outside of the UK and what obligations may arise here in the UK, as well as in these other countries, as a consequence.
Jason enjoys DIY having over recent years renovated his own home. Living by the coast, Jason likes walking and cycling on Cornwall’s coastline and coastal paths, come rain or shine!
