Paul Putnam

Partner, audit

Meet Paul

Paul leads our audit team, working with dynamic clients facing diverse challenges. He’s proud to deliver exceptional results with a collaborative approach.

Hi I’m Paul, I’m an audit partner in the Bristol office. I’ve worked in Bristol for more than 20 years and the last five years I’ve worked at PKF Francis Clark.

It’s been a really exciting journey working here. I’ve seen the office grow from 12 when I first joined it, to over 100 people now. Of which there are more than 50 people working within our audit department.

It’s been great to see how our client base has grown and diversified over the period of time that I’ve been here. It’s been really interesting to see some of the technical matters that have come out from that client base. It’s also been fantastic to see how the team has evolved, including into new audit areas, such as IT assurance.

Honestly, every day has been a school day since I’ve been working here, and that’s what keeps the job interesting.

Outside of work, I still just about manage to scrape into the first team at Minchinhampton Golf Club and my wife also plays for the ladies first team as well.

I’ve got two children, the oldest of whom is now living and working in Bristol as well. And my youngest is studying fashion design up in London.

If I’m not in the office, you’ll often find me down the road at Baristas, having a chat over a coffee with George.

Paul is an audit partner, leading the audit practice in our Bristol office. His focus is on looking after entrepreneurial owner-managed and private equity backed businesses. His work involves leading teams in statutory audit and assurance, international and UK financial reporting and accountancy advice, alongside wider business advisory services.

Prior to joining PKF Francis Clark, Paul has worked for four of the large international accounting firms, where he looked after UK and international clients in the technology, retail, manufacturing, property and support services sectors.

Paul has a degree in Geography and Economics from Exeter University. He is a Chartered Accountant.

When Paul is not working he can often be found playing golf on the fairways of Minchinhampton golf course or out on his mountain bike in the Cotswold countryside.
