Meet Rob
Rob is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser who advises owner-managed and family businesses across the South West.
Hi, my name is Rob Deare and I’m an Audit Partner in the Exeter office of PKF Francis Clark.
I’ve been with PKF Francis Clark for over 13 years, having initially joined as an audit trainee. Over that time, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with clients through some pivotal moments in their business journeys.
During my career with the firm, I’ve worked across several departments while completing both my Chartered Accountancy and Chartered Tax Adviser qualifications. This experience has helped me develop not only as an audit specialist but also as a well-rounded adviser to businesses and individuals.
Today, I primarily work with the firm’s larger owner-managed and family businesses, an area I’m particularly passionate about. Having worked in a number of family-run businesses myself, I understand the unique opportunities and challenges they face.
I support clients across audit, accounting, tax, succession planning and wider strategic advice. What I value most is building long-term relationships and becoming a trusted adviser who can support clients through every stage of their business journey.
Outside of work, I’m a keen gym enthusiast and you’ll often find me there at 6am. That’s either a great way to start the day or just an effective way of avoiding the morning nursery drop-off duties.

Rob is a prize-winning Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser who advises a broad range of corporate clients, specialising particularly in owner managed and family businesses, operating primarily in the Exeter and surrounding area.
A graduate of Cardiff University, prior to joining the firm in 2013, Rob gained commercial experience working for a national recruitment agency, as well as managing an electrical retail store for a family business franchise.
Rob spends the majority of his time delivering audit and assurance services to the firm’s larger owner managed and , where he is able to combine his corporate audit expertise with providing commercial and tax advice. Committed to building strong business relationships, he is also able to co-ordinate the firm’s specialist tax and corporate finance services to provide an all-round service to his clients.
Through his personal experience of having worked in the sector, combined with years of experience in advising his clients, Rob understands fully the complexities, challenges and opportunities that face family businesses. Rob takes time to understand all aspects of each business and the long-term plans of the shareholders.
Rob works across a diverse range of sectors including food & drink, property, mining & quarrying, healthcare, manufacturing, software and with a range of business types including trading businesses and groups, investment companies, including family investment companies.
Outside of work, when the commitments of a young family allow, Rob is a keen golfer.
