Director, corporate finance

Rob Gear is a highly experienced corporate finance professional with nearly two decades of expertise. He leads the transaction services team, specialising in conducting thorough due diligence investigations for a wide range of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, debt, and private equity investments.

Rob’s career in corporate finance began at EY, where he spent seven years working on energy and infrastructure transactions. He then transitioned to PKF, where he has applied his skills across multiple sectors, leveraging his ability to identify potential risks and provide actionable recommendations. His expertise has been instrumental in the successful completion of numerous complex deals.

Rob also spent a year in industry as Group Financial Controller, overseeing a finance team for a company with a £400 million turnover. This role gave him direct experience in understanding the operational implications of transactions both before and after completion.

Known for his thorough and analytical approach to due diligence, Rob ensures that his clients are well-informed and prepared for any potential challenges. He understands the emotional impact transactions can have and strives to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the likelihood of successful outcomes.

Outside of work, Rob enjoys spending time with his young family. When time allows, he plays golf and cricket and follows the Exeter Chiefs. Rob holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Economics and Finance and is ACA qualified.
