Ross Bond

Manager, VAT and customs

Ross is known for his helpful advice and success in securing great returns for clients by spotting and acting on VAT recovery opportunities.

His friendly approach and genuine care to minimise risks and maximise VAT savings have made his services well received. This is especially true in the healthcare and charity sectors where budgets are constantly squeezed.

Ross’ experience over the last 12 years includes VAT compliance (previously managing the compliance team) before moving on to focus on advisory services as a VAT generalist. Ross is ATT and CTA qualified through the indirect tax route, achieving a medal in one of his VAT papers. He then completed his customs practitioner certificate with the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade. Recently, Ross has built on his keen interest in partial exemption and experience working with charities to develop a specialty in the health and welfare sector. In some cases, he has saved six figure sums for dispensing practices across the region.

His career highlights include:

  • Assisting a global leader in the mining industry with overseas VAT compliance requirements throughout the EU, following a staff change
  • Provided on-site training and ongoing support for a local healthcare charity to adapt to VAT registration, handling complex business and non-business partial exemption calculations
  • Supporting the UK VAT compliance for one of the world’s largest space companies, helping the incoming head of tax achieve his promise on bringing all EU VAT compliance up to date
  • Achieving substantial historic VAT reclaims for a number of dispensing practices in the region. This included the provision of training to practice managers and facilitating the on-going annual saving opportunities for those practice
  • Provided training and identified process improvement opportunities for several charities reliant on grant funding, achieving VAT savings and minimising VAT exposure during major facility refurbishments

Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, regular trips to the cinema and football.
