Partner, tax

Meet Sarah

As a Private Client Partner, Sarah helps high net worth individuals manage complex tax affairs with confidence. From residence and domicile planning to inheritance tax, trusts and estate planning, she provides clear, practical advice to help clients protect their wealth and plan effectively for the future.

Hi, I’m Sarah, a Tax Partner in the Private Client team based in our Exeter office.

I’ve been with the firm for just over 13 years, and one of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing clients leave our conversations feeling more confident about their next steps.

Tax is an ever-changing landscape, and one of the things I really love about it is the variety. No two days are ever quite the same.

I work with individuals on all aspects of personal tax, and one area I particularly enjoy is building long-term relationships with clients and their families. Establishing that trust is incredibly important, as it helps me understand their needs and provide advice that’s tailored to their circumstances.

I also work with many internationally mobile clients, advising those who are leaving the UK or moving to the UK, as well as helping them navigate the new and often complex rules surrounding the Foreign Income and Gains (FIG) regime.

Tax can be complicated and, at times, confusing. I take particular pride in breaking down complex issues into clear, practical advice that’s easier for clients to understand and act upon.

Outside of work, I enjoy functional fitness and running, so much so that I built my own gym. I also love travelling and reading a good psychological thriller with plenty of twists. At the end of the week, you’ll often find me socialising with friends and enjoying a glass of wine.

If you’re looking for clear, practical advice tailored to your personal circumstances, please get in touch. I’d be happy to have a chat.

Sarah is a private client partner based in our Exeter office. She joined the firm in March 2013, having worked at a ‘Big 4’ firm in Exeter for a number of years. Sarah is a chartered tax adviser and was awarded a distinction in the inheritance tax, trust and estates paper in the November 2017 sitting.

Sarah advises on a range of personal and private client tax matters and looks after a number of high net worth individuals and high profile clients dealing with their compliance and tax planning needs. She has specialised in providing residence and domicile advice since 2008 which includes providing advice to individuals coming to and from the UK with regard to the statutory residence test, double tax treaty claims to ensure individuals are not double taxed, non-domiciled individuals with remittance tracking and the remittance basis and non-UK residents selling UK property.  Sarah has also dealt with worldwide disclosures in respect of correcting past tax irregularities to HMRC and ensuring tax compliance.  She also provides advice in inheritance tax and estate planning and trusts.

Outside of work Sarah likes to keep fit and healthy with CrossFit style workouts, running and cycling.  She is a keen baker and is often called upon to make birthday cakes for family and friends.
