Tom Smith

Following a career change from hospitality management, Tom joined the firm in 2016. He has a degree in civil engineering and computer-aided design (CAD) software. Tom enjoys being able to apply some of this knowledge to his tax career via capital allowance project work and R&D claims.

With a background in corporate tax compliance, Tom has a broad client base, ranging from large multinational corporates to innovative businesses. He is passionate about helping companies maximise tax relief where possible. Tom identifies opportunities in capital expenditure or utilising the innovation tax regimes. These include R&D, patent box and creative industry reliefs.

Tom is a member of both the chartered institute of taxation and the association of accounting technicians.

Outside of work, Tom enjoys cycling, attempting to run and can often be found somewhere on Dartmoor walking his dog.
