Lazard Sustainable Private Infrastructure Fund invests in Shawton Energy

Lazard Asset Management’s (LAM) Sustainable Private Infrastructure Fund has completed its second investment, taking a 50% stake in Shawton Energy Ltd (SEL) through its UK investment platform, New Regions Energy.

A team at PKF Francis Clark, comprising Rob Gear, Adam Kefford and Sophie Swift, carried out financial and tax due diligence for the fund.

We are currently very active in the sector, running a number of both buy-side and sell-side processes for solar assets and companies.

Shawton is a leading renewable technology developer and owner of rooftop solar PV projects for commercial and industrial clients across the UK.

Rob Gear, corporate finance director at PKF Francis Clark, said: “We were delighted to support the team at LAM on this strategic investment, which allows its fund to further deploy capital in the rooftop solar space in the UK by investing in SEL, SEL’s operational solar PV assets and its pipeline of future projects. It reflects the ongoing rapid growth of the industry, with Solar Energy UK recently reporting that small-scale solar PV installations this year have already reached a record for the post-subsidy era, and on current trends are set to hit an all-time record by the end of 2023.

“At PKF Francis Clark, we are currently very active in the sector, running a number of both buy-side and sell-side processes for solar assets and companies.”
