PKF Francis Clark advises Source Galileo on sale of 40MW battery energy storage project

PKF Francis Clark’s renewable energy experts have successfully advised Source Galileo on the sale of a 40MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project.

The Rigifa BESS project, located in Aberdeen, is designed to deliver reliable grid support and energy storage capacity, playing a critical role in enhancing the flexibility of the UK’s renewable energy infrastructure.

The fully consented, pre-construction project was acquired by Trina Solar International System Business Unit, the downstream project development arm of Trina Solar Company Ltd. This acquisition marks a milestone in Source Galileo’s commitment to accelerating the energy transition and establishes a foundation for future collaboration between the two companies.

The advisory team, including Angus Hunter, played a crucial role in facilitating this significant transaction.

Garrett Morrison, chief development officer at Source Galileo, said: “This transaction demonstrates our ability to deliver high-quality, innovative renewable energy solutions to the market. Trina’s acquisition of the project ensures it will be delivered by one of the industry’s most trusted players, and we’re excited to be exploring further opportunities together.

“Angus and the rest of the team at PKF Francis Clark were a pleasure to work with and ensured an efficient, professional process with a successful outcome for both buyer and seller. We look forward to working with them again in the future.”

Legal advice to Source Galileo was provided by Lorna Williamson at Energy Law Unlimited LLP.
