Liam is an Indirect Tax Partner specialising in VAT, customs duty and other indirect tax matters. Liam joined PKF Francis Clark in 2005 as part of a graduate training scheme. Throughout his training and career he has worked in many of the firm’s disciplines and has a good understanding of how businesses and their finance systems work. Liam is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser.

Liam’s attention to detail, tireless effort to help and friendly approach is why our clients like working with him. Liam covers all areas of VAT and Customs Duty for all sizes of business from FTSE 100 companies to family businesses. Liam also has a Masters in Engineering and Management, this supply chain management and problem solving experience allows Liam to give sound advice with practical implementation.

He particularly likes helping clients transition to changes in legislation, helping them streamline their processes and remain compliant and in the process improving VAT recovery and reducing duty leakage. For VAT his expertise includes partial exemption, land and property, charities and tax investigation and for Customs Duty his expertise include classification, rules of origin, special procedures, licence requirements and international tax audits. He has been actively involved in Brexit planning with many businesses and is proactive in coming up with solutions which are practical and cost effective.

Liam is a regular speaker at charity, finance and property events. He has represented the ICAEW at meetings with HMRC at the Treasury and has assisted clients in appealing to the tribunals (lower and upper tier) in both VAT and customs matters. Liam is also a member of the customs practitioners group and regularly meets with HMRC on latest developments.

Liam enjoys family life with his wife and children; he also enjoys martial arts, endures running and is a keen practitioner in home DIY.
