PKF Francis Clark shortlisted for South West Employer of the Year

We’re celebrating being shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category of The Business Desk’s inaugural South West Business Masters Awards.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Bristol in November.

The latest recognition for PKF Francis Clark’s commitment to delivering great employee experiences comes after we opened a new office in Southampton and our Plymouth team relocated to a stylish new office in the city’s Royal William Yard redevelopment.

Initiatives to promote colleague wellbeing here at PKF Francis Clark include Wellbeing Wednesdays, an ongoing programme of events and resources focusing on physical, mental and financial wellbeing, such as webinars with a variety of experts. We also have a menopause support group, as well as health and wellbeing champions and mental health first aiders in each office.

We use a quarterly employee listening survey to understand what our people really think and how we can improve their employee experience.

A commitment to lifelong learning is central to our culture. Following a successful pilot, we are rolling out a new Foundations of Leadership programme to develop our new managers. We also run leadership programmes for partners and directors, with the aim of enhancing interpersonal relationships at all levels to help drive engagement, motivation and performance.

In May, we rolled out a healthcare cash plan benefit to all employees, enabling them to claim back a wide range of medical costs. All colleagues are also enrolled in group income protection and life assurance schemes to provide financial support for them and their families.

The Francis Clark Charitable Foundation provides grants to current and former staff who are experiencing financial hardship or need extra support, such as with respite care or adaptations to their home for family members with disabilities.

As part of our efforts to make a positive impact on our communities and the environment, everyone is encouraged to spend a day of work time volunteering each year.

PKF Francis Clark was certified as a Great Place to Work in September last year, which led to us being ranked as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for 2023 (33rd out of 87 large organisations).

More recently, we were ranked among the UK’s Best Workplaces for Women (46th out of 89 large organisations) and Best Workplaces for Wellbeing (40th out of 79 large organisations). The rankings are predominantly based on analysis of thousands of employee surveys by Great Place to Work’s culture experts.

PKF Francis Clark is ranked 28th on this year’s list of England’s Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers.

Earlier this year, we were finalists in the Best Employer in Tax category at the Tolley’s Taxation Awards.
