Golden Coast acquired by international buyer

Golden Coast has been acquired by Pollet Pool Group

PKF Francis Clark advised the owners of Golden Coast Ltd, the UK’s largest independent distributor of swimming pool and spa components and accessories, on the sale of the business to Pollet Pool Group.

Barnstaple-based Golden Coast becomes part of the international group after 45 years as an independent distributor to the wet leisure industry in the UK but will continue to trade under its own brand.

Headquartered in Belgium, Pollet Pool Group consists of nine distribution companies and two manufacturers. It is part of the Pollet Group, which has offices in 17 countries and is active in three markets: water treatment, swimming pools and the medical industry. Both Golden Coast and the Pollet Group are second-generation family-run businesses.

We’re delighted to have secured the right deal for our clients. It’s always rewarding helping business owners to achieve their goals.

Managing director Jamie Adams and his brothers Shaun and Dominic remain in the business to ensure continuity of management during Golden Coast’s integration into Pollet Pool Group.

A team at PKF Francis Clark, comprising Andy Killick, Matt Willmott and Chris Bishop, advised the shareholders of A M Holdings Ltd, parent company of Golden Coast, through all stages of the sale process, from pre-sale preparation, deal strategy and negotiation, as lead advisor.

Getting the deal over the line has been a life-changing event for my extended family and me – something that would just not have been possible without the amazing work of the team at PKF Francis Clark.

Chris Bishop, corporate finance associate director, said: “We’re delighted to have secured the right deal for our clients. It’s always rewarding helping business owners to achieve their goals, and this positive outcome enables Jamie, Shaun, Dominic and the wider family to look forward to the next chapter in their lives knowing the business they have worked hard to grow is in safe hands.

“Golden Coast is a great strategic acquisition for Pollet Group, allowing it to expand its operations in the strong UK wet leisure market, alongside its existing business, PPG UK/Ireland. The two businesses share a similar family ethos, so it was clear from early on that culturally they are a good match.”

Machins Solicitors provided legal advice for Golden Coast. Pollet Pool Group was advised by James Kowper Kreston (financial due diligence) and Shakespeare Martineau (legal).

Jamie Adams, managing director of Golden Coast, said: “Getting the deal over the line has been a life-changing event for my extended family and me – something that would just not have been possible without the amazing work of the teams at PKF Francis Clark and Machins.”

He added: “This is a dynamic move to support future growth. Being part of a strong international group allows us to develop and grow both companies, PPG UK/Ireland and Golden Coast.”
