Finance in Cornwall 2024 – welcome to a 'brave new world'

In association with the British Business Bank, PKF Francis Clark is delighted to host Finance in Cornwall.

The event, on Tuesday 14 May at the Lighthouse Cinema in Newquay, will include sessions on grants and business support available, getting investment ready, debt funding – including non-bank options, equity funding, Business Angels, crowdfunders, private equity and venture capital investors. The range of funding covered is from start-up loans to a listing on the London Stock Exchange.

There will be a series of short presentations from the funders and business support agencies. The final session, focusing on equity, run by the British Business Bank as a ‘meet the funder’ panel session with a range of equity providers taking questions from the floor.

This event will be of interest to business owners at all stages of business maturity – from start-up to exit and there will be opportunities to ask questions and network with your peers, funders, and business support agencies.

This is the 16th year of Finance in Cornwall which regularly attracts an audience of over one hundred business people. This year’s organiser, Sarah Carbis says, “When planning this year’s event, I was aware that we are entering a ‘brave new world’ for business funding in Cornwall. There is a marked absence of significant levels of grant funding, other than for innovation and farming related businesses. Therefore, I would say it is going to be more important than ever for ambitious businesses to know about the range of other funding options potentially available to them. Finance in Cornwall is a great showcase for this.

“For example, Business Angels is an area where real effort is being made to enhance the networks and interaction between them in Cornwall. We are also aware that the Local Enterprise Partnerships are ending, and we have arranged a presentation to explain what will follow, with an emphasis on the impact and role for local businesses as the county continues a coordinated public and private sector push for sustainable economic growth. I am really excited about this year’s event and look forward to welcoming business owners and professionals to the event.”
