What’s the deal?
Korkia’s development company Climate ER Helio – a joint venture between Korkia and Climate ER – has sold the Mere Flats solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in South Yorkshire to a fund managed by NextEnergy Capital.
When completed, this fully consented 56 MWp project will provide renewable electricity for over 20,000 households annually.

“It was a pleasure working with the PKF team on this landmark transaction for Korkia. Their deep expertise and extensive network in the UK solar and battery storage market were instrumental in delivering a successful marketing process and clear strategic guidance throughout. PKF’s strong relationship with NextEnergy ensured a smooth execution, and we are delighted to have such an experienced partner taking this project forward.”
James Spooner, head of M&A at Korkia and director of Climate ER Helio
We said:
“It was great to complete this transaction despite current market uncertainty created by grid reform. This is testament to Korkia and Climate ER’s diligence and commitment to develop a high-quality project and also the experience of NextEnergy Capital as a leading investor in UK solar and battery energy storage system projects. We look forward to working with both parties again in the future.”
